May is a busy month here at Santa Inez Happy Hall. During the week of May 6th through the 9th we will be celebrating “Teacher Appreciation Week”. Letter was sent out last month.

I will resend the letter. During the month of May in the week of May 13th through May 17th, we will be honoring ” Family Cultural Heritage”.

The week is called “Passport to the World” and will end with a parade. (child and staff only) .

Your child’s classroom lead teacher will be sending out a brief Family Cultural Questionnaire.

Please remember to read all informative emails and texts sent by the school and your child’s lead teacher.

Classroom Snippets

Red Class: In the month of May, Red Class will start to focus on learning basic ASL signs such as "more, please, all done, thank you" along with learning body parts, colors and numbers in Spanish. We will do so during circle time using flashcards and/or  while continuing to implement these signs and words throughout the day. Red class will also keep practicing fine motor skills during project time using tools such as sponges, dot markers, paintbrushes, crayons in addition to having more class time to play with sensory/ fine motor toys.

Orange Class: Orange Class families, get ready for an exciting month ahead! Throughout May, we'll be diving into the fascinating world of marine animals, exploring their habitats, behaviors, and unique characteristics. Alongside our aquatic adventures, we'll also be celebrating Mother's Day to honor the wonderful mothers in our lives. Additionally, we're thrilled to announce our "Passport to the World" week, where we'll celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our children, families, and staff. It's going to be a month filled with learning, celebration, and appreciation for our community's rich tapestry of cultures. Get ready to embark on this exciting journey with us!

Yellow Class:  For the month of May we will begin working on tracing the letters in the alphabet and also practice writing our names. We will also be learning about living things such as birds, ocean animals and farm animals.

Green Class: In the month of May Green class will be learning about different habitats and what animals live in which ones. As a class we will be making habitats within sensory boxes for sensory play and science play.

Green class will also be learning about flags and decorating our own flags and making a green class flag.

Blue Class:  Blue class has chosen to learn about the echo system of the ocean.   Why?

Learning about these animals and ocean ecosystems is tied to helping students learn about larger environmental issues, like pollution of water sources and water scarcity. These are issues that are constantly part of current events that children need to be aware of in order to have a well-rounded education. Climate change, the melting of glaciers and icebergs, and the growing list of endangered ocean species are results of problems that affect ocean animals and the environment at large. Also, when you teach your students about ocean animals, you’re providing them with facts and background knowledge that allow them to empathize and care for other creatures in their world.

TK Purple: Purple Class is about to embark on a whirlwind of fun and learning! Get ready for some crafty adventures as we dive into creating heartwarming Mother's Day surprises that will make moms everywhere smile. But that's not all! We're also gearing up for a globetrotting journey with our Passports to the World project, exploring cultures, and discovering fascinating facts from around the globe.

And hey, who says learning can't be a blast? We're sharpening our memory skills by mastering our phone numbers because safety always comes first. Plus, get those vocal cords warmed up because we're turning up the tunes and starting to practice some toe-tapping songs for our upcoming graduation celebration. So buckle up, Purple Class, because we're in for an exciting ride of creativity, discovery, and harmony
