Happy January! Wishing all of our families a joyful and healthy start to 2024! I hope that everyone has had the opportunity to relax and create memories with family and friends over the past few weeks. On behalf of the Spring Valley team, I want to express our gratitude to those who generously shared goodies and treats during the holiday season. We are enthusiastic about embarking on the second half of the school year and feel privileged to be a part of your child’s educational journey. Thank you for your continued support!

Engagement Activities
Here at Spring Valley, we are eagerly anticipating a new month and a fresh theme! In the upcoming month, we will delve into Theme 6, "Sounds and Music." Throughout this period, the children will immerse themselves in the science and artistry of sounds and music. This theme provides a platform for students to investigate the workings of sound, the fundamentals of music, and its cultural significance, fostering both their creativity and analytical skills. Exciting activities planned for January include crafting musical instruments from everyday household items, participating in exercises to enhance auditory memory skills, exploring and creating rhythms, and even producing their own music videos. It is sure to be an enjoyable and fun month for everyone involved.
Professional Development
Happy Hall is hosting a staff development afternoon later this month for our after school care teachers. The agenda will cover curriculum implementation, team-building skills, and expanded learning opportunities, providing a valuable opportunity for professional growth and collaboration.
Community Events
I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for attending the "hall-iday" parties in December! It was truly heartwarming to witness families come together, connect with each other, and have the opportunity to meet the families of your children's friends. I found joy in observing parents and families engaging in activities like coloring with their children, creating sticker sheets, sipping hot chocolate, and embracing the chaos of crafting cone winter trees. The smiles and happiness radiating from both you and your children made the atmosphere truly magical!

Student Achievements
The return of "Star of the Week" has been a delightful success, with our board adorned by stars of recognized children. To earn this recognition, teachers seek out youngsters who demonstrate responsibility, creativity, enthusiasm, and cooperation. Each week, 4-6 students are chosen, making our recognition board a testament to the diverse talents and positive qualities within our school community. Stay tuned as we eagerly anticipate discovering the stars of this month!

To notify us of your child's absence from Happy Hall before the end of the school day, please send an email to happyhall@springvalley.com, use the 1CORE absence option, or text (650) 686-6936. Providing advance notice helps our staff prepare effectively, ensuring a seamless experience for your child. Thank you for your cooperation!
Kindly label your child’s personal items such as jackets, sweatshirts, and water bottles. Our lost and found box tends to fill up, and when unclaimed items accumulate, we ask within the group and then transfer any unclaimed belongings to the school's lost and found rack. Given that many families shop at the same stores and children often have similar preferences, labeled items can be easily identified by our staff and promptly returned to the rightful owner. Thank you for your cooperation!
